I've not been completely happy with some of my older photos, so I'm slowly updating them, redoing the post-processing.  Today's batch includes four statues:



I think "Silence" (the second one from the left) came out best.  The original was...ugh.  It looks so much better in black and white.

In other news, I decided to take some autumn-themed still lifes yesterday, so those will be edited and posted...eventually.  (-_-)  Still lifes aren't a new thing to me but are not my forté, so we'll see how they turned out.

Yesterday was a snow day for my stepdaughter, so we went out for a walk down to Chapman park, near our house.  We made a small snowman, snow angels, and had a snowball fight.  It wasn't a very action-packed fight since she's only 4, but we had fun.  She talked a lot about Jack Frost having snowball fights in Rise of the Guardians.  :-D  That's a really cute movie, by the way, and I look forward to buying it when it comes out.  I took her to see it in the theater right after Christmas, and we both really liked it.

I finally replaced my camera last month after it died in October when water spilled on it.  I was excited to take it with me on the walk yesterday, and get some nice snow photos.  I experimented more with 's actions, this time using ones that subtly enhanced the colors and effects that were already in the raw photos.  That's another thing that's new for me! Since my old, tiny Compact Flash card is unusable with my new Canon EOS Rebel T3, I bought a 16gb SDHC memory card for it and now have plenty of space for shooting in raw format, which is nice.  

I hope to find a chance to take more photos soon.  I really missed it.

I found some photos from our visit to Sonnenburg Gardens in Canandaigua, New York last year, buried on my harddrive.  Most of them were very quickly taken shots with no real care about beauty or skill, meant to give an idea of the possible locations for wedding photos since we will be having our wedding ceremony in the Japanese Garden there someday.  But there was a small selection of flower photos that I took, intending to post them here.

So I finally got around to post-processing them, and decided to test out some of 's beautiful Photoshop actions on these photos, to try something new.  I really like how they came out, and all of the credit for the soft coloring is due to her skill in filtering.  I hope using her actions and dissecting them will help me improve my own skills.  :-D

A couple of the photos I posted today were actually taken this past June, also in Canandaigua, but at the Bella Ella Bed & Breakfast.  We stayed there for my cousin's wedding and really enjoyed it.  One of those two photos fulfilled #49: Stripes.  The updated list is below.

Finally, my sweet Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT has died.  I took it to the Columbus Zoo two weeks ago, and some water got on it from a mug that, unbeknownst to me, had a leak.  *sob* So I probably will not be able to upload any photos for a while, until I can manage to acquire a new camera.  Maybe I'll finally get back to making some photo manipulations instead...

On May 19th my love, , became my husband.  The following weekend, my dad and stepmom came out to visit us and we all went on a walking tour in Boston.  We had a lot of fun, and saw some really interesting things.  Unfortunately, I didn't take a bunch of photos because we had a schedule to keep, and out of the ones I took, not many are worth much artistically.  But I did post all three that are, and soon will be uploading the stock photos I took on that trip.

The weekend after the Boston trip, my husband, stepdaughter, and I went to upstate New York for my cousin's wedding.  I do have some photos from that, but I have not gone through them yet to see if they're useable! Ugh, I really need to catch up....

Summer is going by quickly as usual, isn't it? It makes me sad but I'm also looking forward to Autumn (although not Winter.  Not at all).  More like, I'm looking forward to being able to cook without cooking myself....ugh.  More baking! More soup! More roasts! BRING ON THE GRUB!!!

A few weeks ago my husband, stepdaughter, and I went to the Tower Hill Botanical Gardens in Boylston, MA.  It's a pretty place, and decently out of the way.  Other than a temper tantrum thrown by the four-year-old who was hoping for more playing, it was a good trip.  I got some good shots, though not many came out as well as I'd like.  So I've posted them up, with a few prints.

I have some stock photos from the trip that I have not posted yet, but I did do quite a bit of updating on my stock account, including posting a bunch of new cemetery photos.

In other news, my beloved cat died, so I've been bummed about that.  I also started a new medication that has a side effect of "depression and extreme mood swings" so between the two I'm feeling really lethargic and tearing up at everything lately.  If I don't post for a while it's because I don't have the drive to edit all the photos sitting on my computer until things go back to normal.  I'm not just being lazy!
